Files

Files shows two trees: files stored in Kedrel, and Google Drive. Sharing stays in Drive, through Open in Drive.

Kedrel and Drive

My files and Recent cover both. Shared with me, Starred, Trash and storage exist only in Drive. With only Kedrel, those entries say so. A Kedrel file can sit at the root or in a folder.

Browse, and sort by name, date or size, as a list or a grid. Preview covers PDF, PNG, JPEG and WebP for a Kedrel file, and the same plus GIF for Drive. A Google document is previewed read-only. Text stored in Kedrel is shown beside the file.

Upload and organise

Upload a file up to 90 MB, create a folder, rename, move inside the same tree, and download. Deleting a Kedrel file is permanent. A Drive file goes to the Drive trash, where you can restore it. Kedrel does not empty that trash.

A file Kedrel could not read is kept, and the screen says it was not read.

Keep in Kedrel

Keep in Kedrel copies a Drive file or a Gmail attachment into Kedrel. The copy does not follow later changes. A Google Docs, Sheets or Slides file is copied as a PDF, within Google’s export limit. The file page links the Gmail message it came from.

Search

Search finds Kedrel files and Drive files by words. Search by meaning applies only to files stored in Kedrel, and to the beginning of a long text. It does not search Drive.
